Ports embracing rail

The European port is nowhere without good hinterland connections by rail. Rail is nowhere without efficient terminals, for the last mile or connecting rail services elsewhere. At RailFreight Connects the different players in the supply chain met. On 6 & 7 September 2023 in the German harbour city of Bremen, we made the connection. Thank you for joining us!

Two days full of content, networking and knowledge exchange made RailFreight Connects 2023 an important meeting place for the entire logistics industry. Rail professionals, terminal operators and port people met to discuss the burning issues:

  • What is the impact of economies of scale on the supply chain?
  • How is the German railway network expanding amidst the growing pressure on rail?
  • What does efficiency mean for a port? For a terminal? Or for a railway operator?
  • How are railway fleets adjusting to the need for efficiency?
  • What does the Greening Freight Package from the EU Commission mean for the logistics industry?

What was unique about RailFreight Connects, is that it was hosted simultaneously with Project Cargo Summit, an industry event catered towards the project cargo and break bulk industry. Participants of both events met on several occasions and could attend breakout sessions of both events.
